We are currently recruiting a Junior Lawyer for an exciting in-house role with our client, MDDUS, a Glasgow-based mutual organisation that supports healthcare professionals across the UK. The team specialises in handling high-value, complex negligence claims in the Court of Session.

This role will primarily focus on litigation, and interested applicants should have previous clinical negligence experience or exposure, as well as a good understanding of procedures in both the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing legal services to members on civil claims, GMC/GDC investigations, MPTS hearings, FAIs, and general advice queries.
  • Settling claims within approved limits for damages and costs, with authority to delegate decisions to junior legal staff.
  • Collaborating with medical and dental advisors to support member services.
  • Assisting other departments, including contributing to publications and providing training to MDDUS staff and members.

The ideal candidate will be between NQ–2 years PQE; however, the team will also consider early 2025 qualifiers, second-year trainees with litigation or medical negligence experience, or individuals with a criminal law background who possess the required skills.

This is a full-time position with hybrid working opportunities. MDDUS offers a modern office and a supportive team. Tuesdays are currently considered ‘Anchor Days’, and all employees are expected to attend the office on this day.

This position has a closing date of 8th January 2025. If of interest to you, please feel free to contact either Teddie or Frasia for an initial, confidential discussion. (Assignment 16008)
