We are delighted to be exclusively instructed on this newly created In-House legal role with our client The Denholm Group.  The Denholm Group is a fifth-generation Scottish family-owned business which was founded in 1866, and operates globally across Shipping, Logistics, Seafoods, and Industrial Services sectors. Due to the growth of the Denholm Group, the In-House legal department has seen a consistent increase in workload and is seeking a Group Legal Counsel to join its team in this newly created position in Glasgow.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4 years’ PQE with demonstrable expertise in regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, corporate law, and some involvement in commercial property and dispute resolution. There is also scope for the role to expand, with the successful candidate having the opportunity to take on more responsibility across the Group over time.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing advice and guidance to the Denholm Group of companies on legal, regulatory and compliance matters including but not limited to: drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, commercial property, disputes, intellectual property, data protection, modern slavery, anti-bribery and company secretarial.
  • Supporting the General Counsel in the development, implementation, and maintenance of effective compliance policies, procedures, and guidance across the Group, with a specific focus on anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, modern slavery, and other compliance areas as required.
  • Collaborating with project teams across the organisation to provide legal support for strategic initiatives, including joint ventures and redevelopment projects, ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Assisting in the design and delivery of legal and compliance training for the company’s boards and management teams.

This full-time position offers a hybrid working arrangement (2 days home / 3 days office) to promote work-life balance. Occasional travel to other UK/NI sites may be required.
